Diaper Bag Tag

I have been wanting to make one of these tags ever since I saw some of them made. I collected some name badges when I went to Furniture Market with Kim and then I bought some of the jump rings from WalMart so I would be ready when the mood struck. My dr. had a baby girl and I wanted to make one for her so that when I went for my next apt. after she went back to work that I would have something I made for her. Well, this is how it turned out. I am fairly happy with it for a first try. My glitter glue didn't work very well and came out in clumps, but I think it is ok. I went through all my ribbon and found all the pink ones and tied them on the top. The backside has the giraffe and the lion cut out from the Wild About You set and the Lily letters are from Headlines. (I hope she spells the name that way and not Lilly). Oh well, I can make her another one.
That is all I did this weekend. It surely wasn't a good stamping weekend at all. Not sure how much I will do this week either but hopefully will do a few things. I bought some Future floor wax today and will try a pearlex project sometime this week.
Thanks again for checking in and be sure to sign my guestbook.

Good stamping day

I made this card for the Ways to Use it Challenge on Splitcoast. It was to use Orchid Opulence and I thought it turned out quite well. I enjoyed making this card. I have had Load of Love for the longest time and it was never inked up. I had so much fun coloring it in and especially liked using the gamsol and my cheap crayola crayons. This card combined the gamsol technique along with using the WWC and the blending pen. I even got some stickles on it. I used my Petals wheel--love how easy it is to use. I just use my ink pad and it inks it pretty good. So, I think I had a good day. I enjoyed it. I even got it figured out how to upload to splitcoast. Amazing how much I have learned in a short time. Pretty soon I will be able to get a new heading for my blog.
I can feel blog candy coming soon. I just need a few more visitors.

Good news

Guess what? I just got an email from Stampin' Up that I was chosen for the customer panel. I will get a box of goodies quarterly and have to answer some survey questions every week or two. This should be fun. What a company to really care what the customers think. All companies should do this. Can't wait.

Blog candy

I got my blog candy from Gina
K today--the Ultra Clean!!!
This stuff is awesome. Go and buy
some right now! I loaned some to Kathy
and she cleaned up a set of motorcycle
stamps that she had that were so badly
stained that we never thought they
would clean. Well, they look
brand new. We both recommend this
product. Thank you so much Gina.

This is the next blog candy I won and it came all the way across the ocean to me from Alex at Sillybird stamping. These are so pretty and I can just see making a card all pretty with them. Thank you so much Alex. I love the set. I have just gotten in to using the clear stamps and am loving them.

Sketch Challenge 121

This is my card for the sketch challenge this week. It took me forever to do because I was determined to use this Natural Beauty stamp that I did with Kathy using the powderkeg embossing powders. I used vanilla with this and you can't really see the different shades that this came out in in the photo. It is pretty, but I need to work on the final step of stamping on top of it. My image didn't come out very good. I used some shimmery gold cardstock that I bought at If It's Paper in High Point, NC. Also used the wonderful words II that was gold embossed and then cut out with the oval punch. I used the paper trey ribbon set for the line that I put the gold stickles on and I embossed the black mat with the textile folder from Cuttlebug. The corner punch is SU. All in all it is kinda pretty. I may send this to my sister who is going thru a rough time right now.
Thanks for looking.

I got Tagged

I got tagged by Kathy from Kathyskreations, so now I have to come up with 7 facts about me that you don't know. Here goes.
1. I am an RN with my BS degree in Public School Nursing, but worked a half a year and hated it. I spent most of my career working with mentally retarded girls in a private school. I loved it. Since moving to NC, I haven't worked.
2. I graduated top of my nursing class and 2nd in my high school class. I am a Virgo so I am a perfectionist. That is bad.
3. We moved to NC after 47 years of living in PA near my family. It was the most difficult challenge I ever faced. Now I can tell you that it was the best thing we ever did (even tho we miss our families).
4. I have 2 children--a son who is going to be 37 and not married (a real catch) and a daughter who will be 34 in July. She is married and has gifted us with 2 beautiful grandkids, Luke who will be 7 in May, and Helen who turned 2 in January. Both of our kids live in PA so we don't see them as often as we like.
5.I have a terrific husband and we will be married for 38 years in Nov. Sometimes I wonder how he puts up with me. He works for a Nextel Cup race team, which is very stressful for him with long hours and worry.
6. We have 2 furkids--Abby, a westie, who is going to be 13 in June and just recently became blind and deaf and Gracie, a shihpoo (shitzu-poodle) who will be 2 in Sept.
7. We have a 5th Wheel camper which we love to take camping. Our favorite spot is Ocean Lakes in Myrtle Beach, SC. A fun place to go.
8. I have forever worried about my weight. I was a high of 230 and a low of 148. I have now gained 30 pounds back which I am trying to lose. I was successful with Weight Watchers the first go round and now I am struggling.
Whoops, that's 8!!! Now you know more than you are supposed to.
Now I have to find 7 to tag, but that will be difficult. I will be back with my tagees.

3 Cards Today

This is a triple trifold card with some Basic Grey LilyKate paper and some scrap purple that I had. The stamp set is SU's That's Nice. I used some purple ribbon from Jody Morrow's share. One photo is of it closed and one open.

These cards are a case from Marni Levett's newletter. The one on the bottom is almost a direct case and the one on the top I varied what I used. The left uses irridescent ice embossing powder and I used daubers with the ink (first time to use them). Ribbon is from Jody's share. The butterflies are from Papertrey Ink butterfly kisses set. The card on the right shows stamps from the Doodle This set embossed with black detail embossing powder. I used daubers on this also. I could do better if I made it again. Guess I am learning.
Kathy and I got together today to use the powder keg embossing powders and that was another learning process. We found that we needed to let the images cool a little in between. The colors are beautiful tho. I let Kathy take them home to hopefully make something with them or I would show you.
I am going to a class on Pearlex on Thurs. so I can hardly wait to find out exactly how to use them. There are so many mediums in this stamping world and I want to do them all. It is so much fun. Just wish I were better.
Thanks again for checking in. I got tagged by Kathy so my next post will be my 7 facts about me.

Color challenge book from Leigh Obrien

Wow, I just had to post today and show you photos of the splitcoast 100 color challenge book that I received today from Leigh Obrien. It is beautiful. I bet she is tired of making them but she cut no corners and I am very pleased with it. Thank you Leigh. Here are the photos.

Fun day Sat.

I had a wonderful day yesterday. Kathy, Pat and I went to the Stamper show in Winston Salem. I bought a terrific looking embossing set from Powderkegembossing powders.com. I bought the whole kit and kaboddle!!! Them made me a C with the set and it is beautiful. I even bought the Ritzy Ditzy Glitz spray. Now I just need time to play with all of this. I got a 99 piece of chipboard alpha set too so I am all set to have fun.
Our daughter and granddaughter came last evening from PA so I am in Grandma heaven today. Helen was 2 in Jan. and I don't get to see her often so she doesn't know me very well. I will have to get reacquainted with her today after she gets up. It was an 8 hour ride for her and she was tired so she and her mom are still asleep. I am having all I can do to keep from going in and waking them up. I bought Helen the cutest Disney crocs to wear and they fit her and look adorable.
So, if I don't post in the next few days, you will know why--I am off in grandma land enjoying the journey!
Thanks for checking in and I will post a review on the powderkeg products when I get to play with them.

Sorry, you must think I am a dunce--I do know how to spell sketch. Sorry about that. I was talking on the phone with my terrific sister, Maribeth, and wasn't paying attention to what I was doing.

Here is my latest creation for the splitcoast challenge. I haven't figured out how to upload it yet.
Hope you like it. I think it is kinda pretty.

Free UHU sample

I posted a link to Maria Filosa's blog where she is telling about the new refillable tape dispenser and will send you one to test if you will review it in your blog. I requested one and I will try it. I had one that was not refillable and liked it for the first few feet and then it broke and I had no way to fix it so had to throw it away. I hope this one works better. Right now I am using the ATG gun and love it. It took a little practice, but now it is like a dream. I would recommend it and I got it from framing supplies.com. It was the best price I could find.
I don't have a card right now to post and tomorrow I am going with Pat and Kathy to the stampers show in Winston Salem, NC. Maybe I will have some purchases to show off. I am looking for that cute little bird that everyone is using. I am also planning to order the Green Thumb papertrey ink set. I am in love with every card I have seen from that set. I will most likely order each set she has--not sure about the new one coming out on the 15th but I love the others.
Thanks again for checking in.

Card making Thurs.

I made a couple cards today. One is from directions that I got from stampnscrapwithPaula.blogspot.com and cased from a photo on Dawn's Stamping thoughts. Mine didn't turn out as well, but I may try it again. I think I had the cardstock turned the wrong way. The other card was a pocket card that I made from an envelope that Kathy had directions for (don't know whose blog it came from). I am not really happy with it and may try it again. I used basic grey paper for it and it was too dark. As usual, if you have any suggestions, I am open to them.

We are invited out for dinner tonite to my friend Cindy's house for pork and sauerkraut. I made some harvard beets to take. Cindy is a wonderful cook and she and Glenn make us feel so comfortable. I am so grateful to have such special friends.

Thanks for checking in with me today.

Tie Dye cards I made today following instructions of Twisted Chick Creations. I had trouble making sure there was enough of the wax on the cardstock, so my pattern is not as strong as I would like.
Kathy and I got together today and made a few cards, but none turned out good enough to post. We tried the emerging colors technique and all we succeeded in doing was burning my carpet with the embossing heat tool. They just didn't look good. Also we made an envelope pocket card, but mine needs spiffing up a little before I can show you.
I think these tie dyed cards are kinda cool, but need to work on the technique a little.
Thanks again for looking.

Some photos and finally a card!!!

And finally the card that I created for Pat's birthday. I used Lexicon of Love, some Basic Grey paper, the swirls from Like it a latte with versamark, and a prima with stickles. Now do I have any suggestions from anyone as to how to make it look better. Oh I also used the white gel pen too.
Thanks for looking.

Beautiful River Street in Savannah at sunset.

Thanks for looking, Cheryl

Monday

We are home from our trip to Savannah, GA. What a beautiful city it is with all the 21 squares, the River St. sights, the wonderful restaurants, and we loved the Skidaway Island State Park for camping. We hated to return home yesterday, but the job does require us to return to reality.
We have the camper unloaded and I have most of the laundry done and ready to go back in. Our next trip is Mother's Day weekend and we will be going to Myrtle Beach and will be staying at Willowtree Resort. We reserved one of the premier sites with a hot tub so we are really looking forward to that.
I want to make a birthday card today for my friend, Pat, who is my Weight Watcher leader. I have not been successful with WW lately (my mind just isn't in it), but I have been using the 3day diet and that seems to work for me right now. So, if I can get my creative hat on, I will make a card and publish it for you to see. Kathy tells me that I shouldn't copy any more and should try to use my own creativity, so I will do that!! (or at least try).
Hope to post later. Thanks for checking in. I appreciate it and would you please tell your friends about my little blog. I will do blog candy someday soon.

Let's see if it works when I publish it this time and if not, I will have Kathy help me figure this out. I try to be able to use the computer, but sometimes I just can't figure it out.

Stamp Club photos

This card is a trifold card made with the new paisley stamp. The photo is horrible. I need to set up a little frame like Stampin Kub did and try to do a better job. It is a pretty card IRL.

This is the little photo frame and bookmark.
And last a cute shaker card with Wild About
You. I will make more of these. They are
cute.

Stamp Club

I went to stamp club today and my demo Janet had us make some of the cutest things. We did a shaker card which was much easier than the one that Kathy and I made. I will be making more of them. Also we made a chipboard frame with a monogram on the front. I chose a C so I could give it to my friend Carolyn or Cindy or keep it myself. Also made a trifold card out of the double sided paper and a bookmark out of a paper clip. Very much fun today.
There were only 3 of us there.
It has been a beautiful day today and I got some stuff loaded in the camper to take. I am going to make the Weight Watchers strawberry yogurt pie to take with us for dessert rather than eat the desserts at the restaurants in Savannah. I am hoping we get to eat at Lady and Sons. We didn't the last time there and this time I really want to. I also think I would like to try the Pirate House as I have heard that it is unique.
We are looking forward to getting away. But our poor plants that we just bought will need to be brought in the garage as they are predicting freezing temps for a few mornings.
I will try to post photos of my cards--this will be new for me. Hang in there with me.

Beautiful NC, Furniture Market, and Stamping.

I just feel the need to post about how much I love living here in NC. It is the most beautiful state and it is especially spectacular in the spring. I took this photo yesterday of the wisteria that I saw along the road. It is too bad that the junky building and vehicle are there to distract from this beautiful scene. You should have smelled it--it was heavenly.

I spent several days this week at the High Point Furniture Market which is a huge event for our area. I enjoyed seeing all the new furniture that is being manufactured and especially loved the childrens furniture. Now if I could just buy some for the grandkids. There is a Mary Kate and Ashley collection that is adorable. Also Build a Bear has a line of childrens furniture that is nice as well. I went with my friend Kim, who has a furniture warehouse and has excellent prices if anyone is interested in quality with a good pricepoint. I highly recommend her. She is legitimate and safe to order from. I have included the link to her website. I will also post a photo of one of the bedrooms from the build a bear collection.

Someday I will be brave enough to post one of my cards. I am a beginning stamper and I don't feel that my work is ready for publication.

Thanks for checking in.
