My grandson's creation

Sorry I have been absent for the last bit, but my daughter and grandkids are here visiting me and so I have been focusing on them. Today my grandson asked to make a card to send to a very special couple back at his home and so I helped him. This is his creation. He even used odorless mineral spirits and a stump. Also, he is only 7 and I think he did a great job. So, here is my grandson's card. They are here til the weekend, so I won't be posting until next week. Thanks for checking in with me.

A couple new projects

I wanted to make this cute little tin for my granddaughter to put her Polly Pocket things in and this is what I came up with. It was a bigger project than I expected it to be. I had bought a template from "the Card Ladies' and thought it would be so easy. WRONG!!! I had trouble getting everything to fit and then I couldn't open it. So I had to rip off paper around the top. I put some mod podge on it to make it a little more usable too. Then I put all the ribbons I had in pinks, browns, and blues on it to doll it up alittle. I think Helen will like it even if it isn't perfect. She comes to visit on Thurs. so not sure how much posting I will be doing for the next week or so. Put me on your blogger and that way when I update, it will show it and you won't have to keep checking in on me. I love Blogger.
I had wanted to make a gatefold card following Beate's directions, so when Kathy came to stamp with me last week, that was our goal. This is what we came up with. I used some basic grey paper and my scalloped oval punch. Then to keep it shut I used one of the photo turns from the hodpodge hardware set. I couldn't make it shut any other way. It is so much fun getting together with Kathy to stamp. She is an inspiration as she is so willing to try anything new. Sometimes what we do works, and sometimes it doesn't. It is all fun tho.
Thanks again for checking in with me. I enjoy sharing my projects. I am improving my stamping all the time and am getting more adventurous.
Please leave me a comment if you have read this far.

Name tags, Body Worlds Exhibition

Do you remember the cute little name tag I made for my Drs. new baby girl? Well, I gave it to her last week and my fears came true!! She spelled the baby's name Lilly rather than the Lily that I did on the tag. So, I made another one and also made one for her other 3 year old daughter. I am not sure this one came out as cute as the other one and she wanted initials rather than name (I imagine for safety reasons), but they are done and I will drop them off to her. What do you think about them? I took photos of the front and back.
We went camping this past weekend in Charlotte at Fleetwood Racing Campground right by the Charlotte Motor Speedway. We had a wonderful time camping with our good friends Glenn and Cindy. While there I had bought tickets for the Body Worlds exhibit which was at Discovery Place in Charlotte. What an exhibit. It was real human bodies who had donated their bodies to science and a dr. in Germany invented a way to preseve the bodies with plastic so that he could dissect the muscles, nerves, tendons, etc. He had "platicized" brains, lungs, and all other organs to show healthy ones and diseased ones. It was done tastefully and you could not tell that it was a real cadaver. I could have spent much longer looking. It was very educational and well worth going. He had even done a horse and had rider on it. One body was a gymnist, one a runner, etc. Go see this exhibit if it comes to your town. Check out the website www.bodyworlds.com to see if it is coming to a town near you. I see it is also in Montreal now. I recommend it especially if you are in the medical field.
Thanks for checking in today.

Bloggers RAK card

We got home from camping this past weekend and look what I had waiting for me in my mailbox. I got thise Bloggers RAK card from Lynn Mercurio (AKA Lynn in St. Louis). I am so sorry that it is fuzzy as it is so beautiful IRL. She put crystal effects on the cupcakes and the ribbon is light pink with brown polka dots on it. The designer paper is beautiful. Lynn's blog is http://www.stamperosity.blogspot.com/. Go check out this most talented and thoughtful fellow stamper.

Thanks for checking in today.

RAK card

I received this RAK card in the mail from Karina Anaya this week and just had to share it with you. Isn't it pretty? I love the colors she chose and it made for a happy mail day for me. Her splitcoast name is Lucky Kar. I am really loving being in the RAK club and have started in the Wish RAK also and have gotten some very neat wishes. I got some pretty colored brads and also got some of the Seaside sketches stamped for me to use. I have sent out several too and it is so much fun.
Thanks for looking at this pretty card.

A few things to share

I read Karla Nathan's blog daily--karlascottage.typepad.com and I must say it is one of my favorites. It is like visiting bed and breakfast everyday while looking in on Karla, who is a fantastic artist and paints the most beautiful roses of anyone I have seen. Anyhow, Karla loves angels and fairys and I told her that I had a neat fairy stamp and would send her a card. She very nicely said that she would send me one of hers too. This is what I received in the mail the other day. She had the card wrapped in vintage newspaper and ribbon with her beautiful business card attached. Inside was a great card that Karla had used scraps of vintage paper and made a card. It makes mine look plain. ( I forgot to take a photo of mine before it went off in the mail, sorry!! But I used the tinkerbella from the bella stamps). Go visit Karla on her blog and see if you don't agree with me.

I made a card for the splitcoast sketch challenge again and this time used a tutorial from Maria Bell (another most talented card maker and blogger). This one was with the doodle this set and I embossed the doodle flowers with gold and silver embossing powder and then cut out and formed a flower with some wire. Attached everything together with a brad. Then bent up the wire under the top flower and it holds the flower up. I love this. The photo shows the wire. it is really pretty IRL. I may try this again. I had forgotten that I had copper embossing powder and I think I would like to try a little heavier gauge wire.

Thanks for checking in today. Splitcoast seems to be down and I am bored. I mounted some stamps today and put some mod podge on a little case I made for my grandaughter to put her polly pocket toys in. Not sure if I like it well enough to photograph for you to see.
Jerry finished waxing the camper and it looks so nice. Now he is making a cover for the ball of the 5th wheel hitch so you don't get grease on you when you walk in front of it. I love my camper!!!
It is hot here today. The dogs are going in and out. They are bored too.
I should make a card today. I want to do the gatefold card from Beate, but with splitcoast down, I can't go and get the instructions. So.....

Cracked glass cards

I spoke with my mom today on the phone and she told me that an old neighbor of ours in PA was diagnosed with breast cancer and was to start on chemo this week. So, I thought I would make her a card to let her know that I was thinking about her. I have been wanting to do the cracked glass technique and yesterday I went to ACM and found the UTEE powder, so bought it. Today I set about to make these cards. It is a neat technique and I kinda like how they turned out. I used the SU set Send a Celebration, which is retired. Also used some Stella Ruby paper by Basic Grey. I love that paper. I kinda coordinated the colors that I used the crayola pencils and gamsol on the stamp to the paper. I told mom about this technique and thought I would make her one too. I also made another one for an old family friend who is housebound because of heart problems. I forgot to take a photo of that one and it is sealed up in the envelope to be mailed out tomorrow. I hope I can brighten up their lives a little. Everyone likes to know that they are thought about.
Thanks for checking in with me today. I appreciate your visits to my little blog.

One more post and I am caught up

I received this card today from S. Brown from Dexter, ME. I don't know if this is just a RAK card or a blogger RAK card. If anyone knows, I would love to know, but I can't find her on the lists of either group. It is the first long card I have seen and it is so pretty. Thank you so much.

Stamping Mama's Tutorial Program

I can't tell you how much I love this card. It is so much prettier IRL. I bought Erika Martin's tutorial program and this was the 3rd one. It was called Yin-Yang and was so much fun to make. I suggest you subscribe to this program and you will get lots of great new ways to make cards. Erika has such easy to follow instructions with photo details and the cards just turn out exactly the way they are supposed to. She even gives alternatives to use. This is the 2nd card I have made. The next one I make will be the lighthouse one, but I don't have the Gina K lighthouse stamp that Erika used, so will try to use the one I have. I look forward to each email I get from Erika. If you have any questions about her program, just ask me. I love it.
Thanks for checking in today.

UHU fabric glue review

I bought some bella stamps and was so anxious to use them. So, I made this cute little beachabella to send to my sister in anticipation of our Myrtle Beach trip in July. I think she will like her. I used some of the glitter stack paper I had and matched up colors and the ribbon looked cute on it. I used the UHU sample that I was sent that is supposed to work on fabric and ribbon and must say that I love it. It didn't take long to dry and it seems to be very secure on there. The only thing is to not use very much. I squirted a little along the middle of the ribbon and then spread it out with my finger. It lays flat and is stuck!! Thank you UHU for this sample. It needs to be available in the states as it works so well.

Stamp club projects

We made this cute little box with Doodle This and some craft ink. I hadn't used craft ink before. It took awhile to dry. This is adorable and was easy to make. Not sure what I will put in it.
This is the Wild Rose stamp set and doesn't show how pretty this card really is. We used some DP for the little strip and the flowers were stamped and cut out and then the top one was mounted on dimensionals. It is really very attractive.

This card is meant to have a photo attached to it. Not sure what I think of this one. I used Wild About You stamp set on it. I think I would like to own this set as it seems very versatile.
That is it for this year of stamp club and I won't be rejoining for next year. My friend Kathy and I and Pat, when she can come, will do our own club and projects that we find from the blogs and splitcoast. We have more than enough materials.

Rak club welcome card from Lisa Woods

I joined the Splitcoast RAK club and this is the welcome card I received from Lisa Woods. Isn't it pretty. I think this is going to be such fun. If you go to Splitcoast, check out the RAK forum and sign up for this. How neat to get unexpected mail.

Marias Tutorial Submission

I hope I got this completed in time, but I did Maria's tutorial on a CD envelope shaker card using Alexa's set. I found some pretty glittery shaker material at HL and this was perfect for this princess. Kathy came over and made one too and hers is precious also. I need to make another one of these as the twins next door have a birthday in July and this would make an ideal card for them. I think I must go buy a box of these CD envelopes as this was so easy to do and I can think of so many cute cards. Thank you Maria for this great tutorial.
