Card from a CD

I don't have these photos in the correct order and I don't know how to change them. I also need to work on my photo taking abilities. The pictures don't make these cards look as nice as they really are. Anyhow, these are from a tutorial from Stampin' Mama (Love her!!!) for a CD card. I made 2 of them from the Apple Cider Paper, River Rock, Chocolate Chip, and Old Olive Cardstock. The stamps used are from various sets. I was experimenting. I needed a couple thank you cards. This one is for my good friend, Cindy, to thank her for the beautiful silver bell necklace she gave me for Christmas. She had a rough holiday because her mother passed away right before the holiday so it was very sad for her. We both have bells and they connected us while she was 500 miles away with her family for the funeral.
This is the inside of the card I will send to my sister. It says Thank you and then "From the bottom of my heart". The thank you is from All Holidays and the heart is from A Light Heart. I stamped in really rust.

This is what the card looks like open. I used a piece of old olive ribbon to attach the 2 cds.

And this is the photo that should be first as it is the front of the card. I used a flower from one of the Apple Cider Cardstock pieces. After I finished I decided to swipe around the edges with close to cocoa ink and add a few stickles to the front to add some bling.
Thanks for looking in on me today. I hope to do better in 2008, both with more frequent blogging and with better photos. (not sure how I will do that, but will try). I also hope to keep trying new techniques. Thank you to Erika Martin for her tutorials.

Christmas goodies

This is a horrible photo but now I don't know how to delete it to put another in, but anyhow, this is the Christmas card that I made to send to my Christmas card list. It was made with Peaceful Wishes and was very pretty (really!!!).

I made this gift card holder to send to my parents. It was from the tutorial program from Erika Martin (I love her tutorials--I can hardly wait for each Thurs. to roll around to find them in my in box). This card is very sparkly which doesn't show up. Darn.

I made a ton of these tile coasters. I made our daughter 6 sets to give to our grandson's teachers, etc and I made that many to give to neighbors and friends. What fun. They were very easy and look great. I put some in the origami box with ribbon bow that was from the tutorial on Splitcoast, but never took a photo of them.

Maria Bell did this tutorial for a hot chocolate holder that is a slider card. I didn't give that yet, but plan to next week when I see my Chirpractor. His sec'y is awesome and deserves way more than this, but she seems to like the little goodies I give her.

I saved the best for last--this card was from Dawn (Dawn's Stamping Thoughts) and is sparkly and cute. I love this and it is a one layer card. Thank you Dawn--It is awesome.
I will post more about Christmas soon. I trust everyone had a great holiday. Be back soon.

Why I love North Carolina

I wish these photos had shown the depth and the beauty of this area. We took our camper out to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure a few weeks ago and took the elevator to the top of Chimney Rock. Here is the view from the top looking out to Lake Lure. What an absolutely beautiful area. The Last of the Mohicans and Dirty Dancing (part of it) was filmed here as well as some other movies, which I don't know. I would love to go back out there to see the area when the leaves have changed colors. Bet it would be breathtaking.
Thanks for checking in.

Direct case from Paulaponders

I needed a card for my stepfather's birthday and my masculine stamps are few and far between. I read Paulaponders blog every day and she had this beautiful card with instructions as to how to do a reverse mask and used Lovely as a Tree, which I happen to have and I had all the ink colors as well as the markers, so thought I would try it. This is how it turned out. It is very pretty in person and I think I did pretty good. I couldn't find a "Happy Birthday" stamp that would fit so used Gina K's Make a Wish and just used a marker to ink up the Happy Birthday on the stamp. This card is in my mailbox as I write this. I hope he likes it. I had fun making it.
Thanks for checking in.

These cards are so easy and pretty

I went to Enchanted Cottage on Monday with my friend and mentor, Pat (who is also my Weight Watchers leader) and asked the talented gals there what the "latest and greatest" in their store is. Well, she promptly took us to the display showing these layered cards. I immediately thought, NO WAY could I make these, but then she explained how easy and addictive they are. All you do is cut your cardstock (the most time consuming of the process) and then punch out the flowers which are numbered, glue the first one down with a glue stick (I used UHU), and then layer the rest on top with pop dots. Wow, did they turn out pretty. I put some stickles on the flowers for a little bling.
What do you think? These are by Romak and are called 3D die cut pictures. I bought 3 different sheets and this one is the least attractive one. They were sold out of the poinsettas and ivy but have 100 on order. I am sure you could go to the Enchanted Cottage website and order them because I know they mail order. The paper I used was some of their sparkle cardstock and is so pretty in person. I can hardly wait to make up the other sheets. What fun. I havne't had this much card making fun in ages.
Thanks for checking in.

My new snack obsession

Wow, are these bars ever great!!! They are Nature Valley Roasted Nut Crunch peanut or almond bars. They taste just like healthier peanut brittle. Granted they are 200 calories a bar, but they have 7 grams of protein and 2 grams of fiber. It is unusual to find this in a snack bar but you can recognize every ingredient on the label. The label states--almonds, peanuts, sunflower seeds, sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Yum. Now don't eat 2 or 3 at one sitting, but one sure is a great treat.
Here is a photo of the almond bar up close. You can pick out everything in it. Hope you try these.

Happy Fall Y'all

I am going to visit our daughter for a week and thought I would make a card before I leave. I am in the Splitcoast WRAK forum and wished for Lockhart images and got this cute pumpkin cart so I colored it with prisma colored pencils and gamsol and then mounted it by using my perfect layers tool (first time I used it). I used the corner punch. The cardstock is a mixture of SU, CM, and just some I had around. The ribbon came from Jody Morrow. The words came from the Karen Foster snap stamps and Papertrey "papertray." I punched them out with the word window punch. I sponged around the sentiment and the image with SU Pumpkin pie. I think I will send this out to my mom as she likes the cards I make and says she saves them. I didn't copy this from anyone as this is my own design (not that it is that great but I usually have to copy someone).
I don't know if I will be posting while I am gone, but I am taking my laptop and my camera so may if there is something good to share.
Thanks for checking in on me today.

I hope these folks respond. It was fun. Thanks Jan.

New projects

I finally did some stamping in between doing all the camper work. This card is done with Lizzie Ann Designs stamps Shore Thoughts. I love this set and this card is done for Jerry's sister. I CASED it from a blog (I think from Lynn from St. Louis-Stamperosity, but not sure. I need to write these things down, but anyhow, I didn't come up with this design myself). It is quite sparkly as I added some crystal stickles (love those things). I hope Connie will like this card. It was fun to make. The ribbon is some that I got from Wish RAK.
This is another CASED card and most likely from Lynn again. I used the fairy image that I got from Wish RAK. Isn't it adorable. I put the background thu the cuttlebug and used the giga scalloped oval for the fairy. I put a pretty crystal on the end of the wand and used a glitter glue pen on the angel. The make a wish was punched out with the word window punch from SU. The stamp was from Ginas Make a Wish stamp set and was the "mistake" stamp, which I love. This card is for our friend's daughter's 18th birthday today. I think it is very pretty.

And last but not least are the 2,5,7,10 boxes I made for our grandkids to give them for Halloween. I am not a big Halloween lover but do like to do something for our precious grands, so this is it. I put M and M's in it plus some candy corn. These are adorable boxes and quite easy to make. I need to make one more to give to my Chiropractors sec'y. I used the set "tag time" by SU and also used some of the stamps that I won from Dawn in my very first blog candy win. Dawn is responsible for my blogging and my stamping. Thank you sweet Dawn!!!!!
I will be back as I got tagged by Janaina Oliveira and I will do that when I find out what I need to answer.
Thanks for checking in with me.

Our new toybox

I can't believe it has so long since I posted but as you can see, I have been busy. We ended up trading campers within a week of deciding to do it. I had to empty out the old one and clean it and then we picked up the new one and loaded it back up and went on a 4 day trip to Shalotte, NC to try it out. It is a Weekend Warrior and has a 12 foot garage in the back that will hold Jerry's jeep in it. He is in heaven with this as he has always wanted to drive his jeep in Myrtle Beach and he got to do that last weekend. We went to see the Lettermen at Alabama Theater and it was a fabulous show. The camper performed flawlessly even tho we need to do some work to get our satellite dish to work. This camper is BIG. It is 42 foot long and will sleep 10 people. The garage has 2 queen beds that will electrically lower from the ceiling. The bottom one will form into a couch also and there is a screen at the back of the garage and the ramp can be held up flat. I would love to take this to Willowtree Resort and park by the lake and sit in the back with the screen. Talk about heaven!!! Anyhow, that is why I was missing in action, but I have a few cards to post as I had some to make for birthdays.
Thanks for checking in with me.

Birthday card from Jen

Isn't this just the cutest card ever? I am in JT's birthday RAK club and Jen (http://expressivelyme.blogspot.com) sent me this beauty. Jen is an expert in watercoloring. She used to be a SU demo and now is a TAC demo, but I think Jen could do magic with any stamp she puts to an ink pad. I love reading her blog daily, am in her birthday RAK club (go right now and sign up for it!!!) and also her monthly RAK club. What a sweetheart Jen is. Thank you Jen for this adorable card. I love, love, love it. Also thank you for coordinating all of this fun for us!

Birthday cards

I feel so spoiled as I got so many beautiful birthday cards from my friends. The first one is from Kathy. It didn't photograph well as the color is a beautiful blue/grey with the flowers done with future floor wax and pearlex. It is beautiful. I must try this technique. Kathy gave me the biggest Dunkin' Donuts coffee mug cause she knows how much I like my DD coffee. Thank you Kathy!!!
This prettiness is from Charly. She didn't say if it was from splitcoast blogger rak or just the birthday rak club. It is very pretty with stamped velum on the front. Inside she had a little baggie of blings for me!! Thank you Charly

This card is a real beauty too but my photo ability doesn't show it. It is from Julie www.stampinwithjulie.blogspot.com Go check her great work out. I love this stamp set that she used for this card. Thanks Julie. I love it.

Doesn't this card just make you feel happy? It is from Pat Sergeant and JT's Birthday RAK club. I love this little club. Jen from Hawaii has compiled a birthday list and you can send cards to those on the list if you wish and I got one!!! I love the pink brad on this card with the pink primas. So cute and made my day. Also the detail of the scalloped edge is so pfetty. Thanks Pat.

Yep, this is my first Fluffle and it is from Sara Pascal. I can see now why these little kitties are so addictive. Sara did a fantastic job coloring this card and I love the colors she used. I guess I love the brown with the celery and pink anytime. She even used a couple punches. Very, very cute. Sara, you are an amazing stamper. Thanks.

This card sure doesn't show the beautiful colors. It has the appearance of flocking (but isn't) and looks so soft. The ribbon is beautiful. Ginger @williams-creations sent this beauty to me. Thanks Ginger. I love it.

Toni Newman from stamptherapy2 sent me this little beauty. As usual it is using my favorite colors. How people know this is beyond me. I can't tell you how special it makes you feel to get these cards. Love the bling on it. Thank you Toni.

I love splitcoast and this is the reason. Stephanie Sebren sent me this card for the birthday bloggers and I adore it. The bling on the flower doesn't show up good but it is blue crystals. She did such a great job on this card. Stephs splitcoast name is stephstamps1982. I appreciate you sending me this card Steph. Thank you.

What a beauty this card is. It is from Lorrie Brewer (splitcoast name brewerlr). Lorrie did every type of technique on this card. She stamped ,punched, tore, tied, distressed, has paperclip, button and tied on ribbon. That's alot in a small package. The colors are beutiful. Lorrie told me that she had never done a rak card before and was afraid it wasn't good enough. Yeah, right Lorrie!!! It is beautiful. Thanks so much.

Last but certainly not least was this fantastic card from Pat Gasko. Pat is my Weight Watchers leader and was the person who introduced me to stamping. I don't know what stamp set she used, but it sure is pretty. Pat has a way of knowing just what colors to use and the design elements. She is a true graphic artist. She even did the polished stone technique (I think) on the piece of cardstock on the left. So pretty. She even enclosed a Starbucks cash card. I will sure enjoy that. I never have had one. Such a pretty card, Pat. It is very special. Thanks.
So, if you have read this far, you have seen how spoiled I was. Thank you to all. It was a good birthday.
And now I hope to get back to my cardmaking and blogging now that fall is here. We have a couple camping trips planned and the fall was fly by. I don't like winter so not looking forward to that. I hate cold--love it hot. And hot is what we have had here in NC.
Thanks for checking in with me.
Cheryl

Myrtle Beach

We went for a short weekend camping trip to Willowtree Resort which is outside of Myrtle Beach. This is a photo from our camper overlooking the lake. It is a beautiful campground and quite convenient. We made the trip because we went to see the Ricky Mokel comedy show at Alabama Theater. Have any of you ever seen him? He is soooooo... funny. He is the comedian for One--The Show there at the theater and when I saw him this summer found out that he was doing a one man show in Aug. so we got tickets. It was fantastic. We bought tickets for the Christmas show also. I love going to the beach. There is so much to do and if we want to relax, we can. Anyone else been there?
Cheryl

My gosh, it has been so long

First things first--I had said I would show a photo of Bill with his Harley and here it is. Here he is with Donna and his new bike on the way home from their first bike trip to Myrtle Beach. They rode the bike from PA and stopped in at our house in NC. It was record heat and they scorched, but had fun. The bike is very pretty.
Here is Bill showing off his bike. He loves riding and I pray he will be safe.
Thanks for looking in.

An angel gets her wings!

Go check out http://myangelinspirations.blogspot.com/ and leave a comment for some terrific blog candy. Kimberly just got her angel wings and is giving away some neat things. I am not familiar with TAC so it is with interest I am reading these blogs to see what the buzz is all about. Seems to me that folks are going in different directions from SU. Go see Kimberly and tell her that Cheryl sent you!!

Wish you joy!!!

I just had to copy this card from Gina K as it made me smile and I am thinking I may send it to my mom with some photos from our trip to Myrtle Beach. I used Gina K's set--stamps for a cause--Wishing you well for the sentiment and her dancing chicken for the image. I also used some PP from SU and some ribbon from Jody's ribbon share. The chicken was colored with watercolor crayons and blender pen. I have so many different ways to color in images at my disposal and I like all of them. None stick out as better than the other. I enjoy the colored pencils and gamsol too. I haven't caught on to using markers very good yet.

Anyhow, thanks for looking in today. I go to get my doggies groomed tonite and to a Pampered Chef party at my friends house. We are having 2 kinds of homemade salsa. Yummo.

A card for my motorcycle riding son

I borrowed the set Born to Ride from Kathy to make this card for our son, Bill, who just bought his first Harley motorcycle (a softtail) and passed his licensing exam. I thought he would like this as a congrats card. He and his gal friend have ridden the bike from PA to Myrtle Beach SC and will be stopping here in NC on Thurs. to spend the nite before heading back to PA. I will have this card for him then along with a nice homecooked meal. I know when we are away, sometimes homecooked food tastes really good after eating out all the time. Hope he likes the card. Thanks for checking in with me. Maybe when he gets here, I will take a pix of him with his new red Harley.
Cheryl

And now for something by Cheryl

I love to do some of the blogger's challenges but find that I am just so stamping challenged that my cards never suit me. This time I tried to do Beate's card sketch challenge for last week. It looked simple enough, but when I start putting paper on and ink to paper, it just never looks right to me. And I couldn't even get the brads on evenly. Oh well, I just hope I improve. I had made this for a good friends birthday. Not sure if I should send it or not. By the way, I do love the set The Art of Life, which I borrowed from Kathy and I have used it lots. Thanks for looking in at this poor specimen of stamping.
Cheryl

Am I spoiled or what?????

Lookie here!!! Krista Hubbard has completely spoiled me. I have met her on The Splitcoast Wish RAK site and she has completely spoiled me. The top photo is a goodie bag she sent me for being the special Wish RAK person of the week. It was full of embellishment of all sorts. She even made me the cutest note pad and matching pen. And there in the middle is a clear stamp set. Thank you so much Krista. You are precious. But keep looking down.
Krista enclosed this card. It is the most beautiful shimmery cardstock and the scallops are so pretty. I would love to know what kind of cardstock it is and how Krista made those scallops so perfectly. It appears pink in the photo but is really white. Inside the verse says "you mean the world to me" and it is embossed. What a cute card. Thank you Krista. And the fun didn't end there:

Krista found out it is my birthday month and now has sent me this precious card. I had never seen this set in person and love it. She knows how much I love my doggies. She even sewed on this card. Now, tell me, how does she do all this and work besides? She is an accountant by day and a very special RAK'er by nite. Thank you again so much Krista. You made me feel special.

JT's RAK club for August

Just look at this adorable card I received from Janaina Oliveira who is in JT's RAK club and I was lucky enough that she got my name to RAK!!! This card is outstanding. She even paper pierced, tore paper, colored, sponged, layered and stamped. Talk about talent!!! And do you know what else? She even made an envelope for this card. And on top of it all, she found out that my birthday is the 27th of this month and sent it as a birthday card. Wow!!! Thank you so very much. I love your card. Good luck with your TAC career. You should do very well and especially with Jen as your upline. I will be keeping track of you via your blog. For all you readers, go check out Janaina's blog at http://www.2worldswings.blogspot.com/ and see for yourself all she does.
Thanks for checking in today.

Boggers RAK

I am part of the Blogger RAK club on Splitcoast stampers and I received this cute card from Nancy Elrick (www.nancyscreativemess.blogspot.com). Go check out her blog and see all the neat things that she creates. I was so pleased to get this card. It sure does make you realize how much it makes for a good day and how appreciated these cards really are. Thank you Nancy. That was so sweet of you.
More posts to come.

Beate's sketch challenge

I have been having so much fun with this set I have borrowed from Kathy and made this get well card for a friend of my mother's who has been very sick for quite a while and just had a heart proceedure on Friday. It says "Hope today is a good day for you" and then you open the little flap and it says "and that tomorrow is even better." I used some of the paper I received from Lynn Mercurio and some ribbon that Ellen Hutson enclosed in a blog contest that I won. The base cardstock is from Creative Memories (still trying to use my stash of it up as I really like the SU colors better). I hope Johan likes this card I made for her and that it perks her day up.
Thanks for checking in on me today.

I am the mystery wish RAk at splitcoast!!!

My gosh!!! Look at all these yummy goodies!!! These are from Lynn Mercurio (www.stamperosity.blogspot.com) . Make sure you go visit Lynn's blog as she is one talented stamper and most of all, she is a very caring person. I never even knew there was a mystery rak at splitcoast, but I sure do now. Lynn sent me this beautiful double sided paper from the Bohemia collection (My Mind's Eye) called Bluebird cousins Damask Blue. It is gorgeous. She knew that I love blue and brown together and sent coordinating ribbon, primas, and some pretty blue bling!!! Even the card she sent with the goodies is awesome. It is gold embossed.
Lynn, if you are reading this, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are one very precious stamper!

Home from Myrtle Beach

My mom, sister and I spent a week at Myrtle Beach in our camper at Ocean Lakes campground. We love that place. Here is a photo of us in Murrells Inlet. I am on the left, then my mom, and my sister on the right. We had such a good time. The outstanding part of the trip was going to Alabama Theater to see "One--the show." The comedian Ricky Mokel was hilarious and Jerry and I along with some friends are going to go to his one man show this month. He has such a sense of humor and it is CLEAN with no bad words. That is so unusual.
Anyhow, I decided I would make thank you cards for my mom and sister (they live in PA and I live in NC) for allowing me to have such a fun week. I used a penguin image that Krista from Splitcoast sent me. Her screen name there is Kristastamps and that girl is incredible with the amt of things she has sent me. I don't know how I will ever repay her for the RAKs she has sent me. I made this card with some paper from CM, some glitter paper from DCWAV, some stickles, the sentiment from Gina K, and I used Crayola crayons with Gamsol and stumps. I cased the design from a card that Krista sent me. I think it was a make and take from the big trade show in Chicago. (thank you Krista).
At least I got to stamp today. Sure wish my stamp room was neat and clean. I really need a closet makeover like Nichole Heady had.
Thanks for checking in with me today. I will try to make some more stuff this week. It was fun getting back to stamping. I also want to send out some RAKS.
Cheryl

Long Time , No See!!

I am taking part in Jen's monthly RAK and this is the card I received from Teri Suzuki all the way from Hawaii. She must have found out that it is my birthday in August and made me this very cute birthday card. I love it Teri. Go check out her blog www.bigideasfromalittlegirl.blogspot.com and see all her great work.
Also go see Jen at http://expressivelyme.blogspot.com/2007/07/super-cool-rak-from-flossie.html (also known as Pieces of Me). I think it is too late to sign up for her August card RAK, but look for the Sept. It is so much fun. Jen is a talented stamper and she is a TAC consultant now so I am expecting some very neat things from her. Thank you so much Teri for this great card.
This was such a treat to come home from vacation to. I feel like I received a gift from royalty. It is from the famous Beate Johns!!! I am in the bloggers RAK group in Splitcoast Stampers. What a beautiful card. Thank you so much Beate. If you haven't done so already, run over to her blog http://www.beate.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/ She also does many tutorials which are so easy to follow and also does a sketch challenge.

I came home from vacation to some great treats. This card is from blogger Paula Goff of Paula Ponders. I read her blog each and every day. What a talented stamper Paula is!!! Go check her out at http://stampnscrapwithpaula.blogspot.com/2007/08/wacky-wednesday.html Thank you Paula for such a great card. It is even better in person.
Guess that is all the great RAK's I received while I was gone. I only wish I could stamp as good as these talented gals and I appreciate that they share their work with me. Thank you all!!!
Cheryl
